How do auctions work?
BuyingLast reviewed Oct 8, 2026
A bid must beat the highest bid by at least the minimum increment (the default is $1), and your wallet must hold the bid amount when you place it.
- Some auctions have a buy now price. A bid at or above it counts as buying now, and the listing is held for you while you check out.
- A seller can set a hidden reserve. The reserve has to be met for the auction to complete.
- When an auction ends, only the highest bidder can buy, within 72 hours. If they do not, the seller can relist.
