How is a dispute decided, and what can the outcome be?
Trust & DisputesLast reviewed Oct 8, 2026
A dispute goes through these steps: Evidence, Review, sometimes Mediation, then a Ruling. A ruling can be appealed once. Our staff drive every step; none of the steps has a promised time.
The outcome is one of:
- Buyer wins: the deal is cancelled and the buyer is refunded the price and the fee.
- Seller wins: the seller is paid the sale price.
- Negotiated split: the seller receives an agreed share (never more than the price) and the rest goes back to the buyer.
- Closed without a ruling: the deal goes back to where it was. A closed dispute can be reopened, up to two times.
The side that loses a dispute also loses 5 points of trust score.
